Julian Tu's remarkable career journey in the entertainment industry is highlighted by a series of iconic events and groundbreaking projects:
1996: Michael Jackson's "Dangerous World Tour" in Taiwan.
1997: The Taiwan tour of the world-renowned Harlem Globetrotters.
1998: RickyMartin's concert in Taiwan.
2001-2002: We successfully produced and promoted the cross-strait tour for legendary magician David Copperfield. The tour featured 46 spectacular shows across Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Taipei, attracting over 300,000 attendees and generating US$20 million in gross revenue. At the time, it was the most successful commercial production in the history of China.
Late 2003: We presented the inaugural China tour of Riverdance. The eight shows in Beijing sold out completely and were attended by the President of Ireland, while all five shows in Shanghai played to packed houses.
2004:
Early in the year, David Copperfield returned for another successful China tour, performing in cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Changsha, Nanjing, and Hangzhou.
Building on the Irish dance craze sparked by Riverdance, we introduced Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance, taking the phenomenon to even greater heights.
In mid-2004, both our David Copperfield and Riverdance tours were honored among the "Top 10 Performance Events in China of the Early 21st Century."
2005: We significantly diversified our portfolio with a range of new genres:
In September, we successfully brought and co-invested in the first-ever Broadway musical in Hangzhou, The Sound of Music. Its eight-show run at the Hangzhou Grand Theatre was a city-wide sensation.
We followed this by promoting sold-out concerts in Shanghai for Hong Kong pop duo TWINS and Taiwanese star Rene Liu.
Capping off the year in December, we presented the legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti's Farewell World Tour in Beijing and Shanghai, marking another historic moment in music.
2006: We co-produced the Shanghai concert for Mandopop superstar Leehom Wang at the 80,000-seat Shanghai Stadium.
The show was widely acclaimed as the most successful outdoor concert of the year in Shanghai.
2009: In September, we brought one of the world's most iconic musicals, Cats,
to Shanghai's historic Majestic Theatre for a run of eight performances.
The show was met with tremendous public and critical acclaim, marking another major success.
2010: We presented the international smash-hit Thriller Live, a musical celebration of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson,
on a multi-city tour that included
eight performances in Beijing and Guangzhou. The tour was met with phenomenal fan reception, with tickets in high demand
at every stop.
2011-2012: Spanning the New Year period, we brought an official ABBA tribute concert to Mainland China for a five-show tour
across four cities.
The concerts ignited a wave of nostalgia, becoming an instant hit with audiences.
From 2013 to 2014, Mr. Julian Tu was appointed General Manager of Live Nation China (Shanghai), the world's largest publicly listed live entertainment company.
During his tenure, he spearheaded the China tours for numerous A-list international artists, including Pet Shop Boys, The Killers, and Alicia Keys. This role underscored his exceptional expertise and significant influence within the global live entertainment industry.
